Introduction to Lusoga Grammar

Lusoga is a Bantu language with a rich grammatical structure. Like other Bantu languages, it uses a system of noun classes and corresponding agreements.

Basic Sentence Structure

Lusoga generally follows a Subject-Verb-Object (SVO) word order:

  • Subject: The person or thing doing the action
  • Verb: The action
  • Object: The person or thing receiving the action

Example:

  • Omwana alya emmere
  • (The child eats food)

Noun Classes

Lusoga nouns are grouped into different classes, which affect:

  • Prefixes on nouns
  • Agreement with adjectives
  • Agreement with verbs
